And the Runaway Train Keeps Rolling.

Fun fact: Moss on the Moon is on Facebook and Twitter. If you didn’t know or haven’t yet, follow us there!

Casting Call:

Marketing team needed. Job description: Procuring advertisements. Publicity. Planning MotM events. If interested, please contact me at editorialmaven@mossonthemoon.com.

Design Associate(s) required. One or two will round out the design team quite nicely. Contact Moss on the Moon’s Senior Art Director, Alex Dahl, at designwrangler@mossonthemoon.com for details.

Now, I know that Alex does a fantastic job with Moss on the Moon’s covers, but you’re allowed to submit cover designs. In fact, we encourage it! Send them in through our Submit page, and get on the cover of MotM.

We’re in that awkward phase of construction where we can see the structure, but we’re not quite ready to take the Tyvek off yet. When we’ve got the HVAC and the plumbing running smoothly, there should be more frequent posts (of varying compositions—not just updates and casting calls). When we’re ready for unveiling and the furniture’s set to move in, things will get really exciting (for more than just us, that is).

Happy 4th of July weekend.

New and Exciting Things!

June 19, 2009 by Alli Neal • 4 Comments

Welcome to our new and improved website! As always, we at Moss on the Moon are making changes and developing the zine. This summer, we’re overhauling the zine and the website, making some big changes.

The biggest change we’re making to the zine is just that–getting bigger. Instead of our half-page zine layout, we’re playing with full-size magazine spreads. This means a few things: we will have room for more submissions, we will be able to accept longer pieces, and we will run out of money a lot more quickly.

Although we have considered revisiting our money-making scheme from issue 1 (refer back to “How Writing Majors Make Cash” by Maureen Bonsignore), we’re not sure today’s economy will support our venture. Since we will have room in our new, larger layout, Moss on the Moon hopes to start running advertisements to help fund publishing. More on this at a later date.

As made obvious by the makeover, Moss on the Moon’s designer, Alex Dahl, is currently working on the website. Not only will we have news posts like this one, there will also be contributor bios and information about the magazine. I will be able to post publication and event information, updates to the magazine and the website, and cool news. There’s a comment feature on these posts so you crazy cool readers can throw in your two cents on the matter, too.

I’ll be updating about changes we are making this summer, so keep an eye out for what’s new here. As always, email me with questions, comments, concerns and shout-outs at editorialmaven@mossonthemoon.com, and keep submitting your work.
